REGULAR MEETING; PUBLIC HEARING AND POLICY ADOPTION ON POLICIES 5018 & 5045
6/8/2026
The Osmond Board of Education met at 5:00 pm, Monday, June 8, 2026, in the multi-purpose room at Osmond Community Schools, located at 202 W. Prairie St., Osmond, NE.
It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Krohn, that it is hereby determined that this meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the June 3, 2026 issue of the Osmond Republican, according to policy 2008 and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. All members having voted in favor of the motion, the same was declared, passed and adopted and the following proceedings were had and done at said meeting in open session. A copy of the open meetings act was posted in the room.

Board roll call was taken, with all members being present.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
It was moved by Reikofski, seconded by Rice, to approve the Agenda as presented.

Patron Input: None. President Moes recognized Regina Lorenz with the Osmond Republican as the news reporter in attendance.
It was moved by Rice, seconded by Krohn, to approve the consent agenda, reviewed, revised or new board policies 2008, 3003, 3003.1, 3004.1, 3027-3030, 3048, 3061, 4017, 4019, 4056, 4065, 5001, 5003, 5004, 5035, 5048, 6046, 6009, 6038, KSB School Law policy updates, the financial reports and June claims as presented, with no public comments nor patron input made for the public hearing on policy 5018 – Parent Involvement in Education Practices or policy 5045 – Student Fees.

Athletic Director Guenther reported on: 1) the latest sports schedules for the 2026-2027 school year.
K-6 Principal Parsons reported on: 1) End of the year data on progress and needed growth; 2) K-6 Acadience Spring Reading Benchmarks; 3) K-6 EduClimber behavior data; 4) long-term SPED sub for the 26/27 school year; 5) suggested changes to the elementary handbook; 6) end of the school year elementary field day, thanking Mr. Wright for his planning of the event; 7) Common Curriculum for next school year; and 8) upcoming summer staff trainings.
7-12 Principal Polt reported on: 1) end of the year teacher check-outs; 2) completion of report cards; and 3) noted that the school will be open for tours from 3:00-5:00 pm during the bi-annual alumni banquet event scheduled for June 27, 2026.
Superintendent Bremer reported on: 1) the Osmond Community Schools Foundation donation of $10,000 towards new stage curtains and lighting; 2) a proposed coop committee meeting in July with Plainview Public School; 3) provided school vehicle update; 4) shared recent shareholder survey results; 5) reviewed and revised board policies; 6) SPED substitute hiring; 7) ad hoc committee updates; 8) the continuation of the Plainview / Osmond sports cooperatives; 9) board goals; 10) facility updates; and 11) superintendent goals.
Board members Gansebom and Koehler were excused at 6:21 pm.
Board Member / Committee Reports: 1) President Moes thanked the OCS School Foundation for their $10,000 donation towards new stage curtains and lighting; 2) mentioned the bids for possible air conditioning in the cafeteria for later review; 3) congratulated the State Track and State Golf participants; and 4) thanked the board, administration, staff and the news reporter in attendance for accommodating this month’s change in board meeting start time.
Action Items: It was moved by Reikofski, seconded by Rice, to affirm the current cooperative agreements with Plainview Public Schools, continuing the coops in all junior high sports, high school football, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls bowling, and girls wrestling, in addition to exploring future possible coop endeavors.
