The Osmond Board of Education met at 8:03 pm on Monday, June 10, 2024 in the school multi-purpose room. The president announced informed the public that a copy of the open meetings act was posted in the room.
It was moved by Rice, seconded by Reikofski, that this meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the June 5, 2024 issue of the Osmond Republican and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. All members having voted in favor of the motion, the same was declared, passed and adopted and the following proceedings were had and done at said meeting in open session.

Board member roll call was taken with Moes, Krohn, Reikofski and Rice in attendance. Member Koehler arrived at 8:08 pm and member Gansebom arrived at 8:11 pm.
The district purpose statement was read.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Presentation / Discussion Item: Jack Moles presented on the NRCSA (Nebraska Rural Community Schools Association) in consideration of OCS joining the organization on an annual membership basis; with Mr. Moles also addressing board member questions.

It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Koehler, to approve the consent agenda and financial reports as presented, including reviewed board policies 4002, 4003, 4004, 4005, 4006, 4007 and 4008.

Principal Polt reported on: 1) new shot clocks; 2) new students for 24/25; 3) graduation for 2025 having to move to the second Saturday of May due to the NSAA rollback year and conference track; 4) the girls varsity basketball game schedule; and 5) addressed para needs for the 24/25 school year.
Superintendent Bremer reported on: 1) policy updates and reviews; 2) staffing and classified wages for 24/25; 3) co-op update, noting the scheduled joint board meeting with Wausa on July 2nd in Wausa; 4) office remodel, 5) concrete bids; 6) start of tuckpoint work; 7) legislative items; 8) resolution to increase district’s base growth percentage; 9) Nebraska Rural Community Schools Association; 10) Sparq Meetings and Publishing; 11) updated pricing for the school lunch program; 12) school insurance quotes; and 13) strategic plans and district goals.
Board Comments: 1) members discussed the possible junior high basketball co-op with Wausa school; 2) President Moes congratulated Xander Brown, Dominic True and Hunter Buchanan for their state track appearances, noting Xander Brown placed first in discuss; 3) members reviewed and commented on a list of student accomplishments and accolades for the second semester; 4) member Krohn asked for further explanation on the Tiger Student Security Bank program; and 5) the board reviewed bids for concrete work and discussed the office remodel and replacement of the back security door.
Action Items: It was moved by Rice, seconded by Gansebom, that pursuant to Section 5 of 2023 Neb. Laws 243 Osmond Community Schools adopts the resolution to increase the school district’s overall property tax request authority by up to an additional seven percent above the base growth percentage, or other maximum amount as permitted by law. The Superintendent or designee is hereby authorized and directed to take any action consistent with this Resolution to ensure that the school district’s overall property tax request complies with this Resolution.

It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Reikofski, to take all necessary action to join the NRCSA – Nebraska Rural Community Schools Association.

It was moved by Rice, seconded by Koehler, to take all necessary action to utilize Sparq Meetings and Publishing.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:22 pm.
Notice is hereby given that the next Special meeting of the Osmond Board of Education will be on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 8:00 am at the school. The purpose of the meeting is to review and take necessary action on the bids for concrete work and office remodel. An agenda is kept continually current and is available for public inspection in the Superintendent’s office during regular office hours.
