MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION #42R
REGULAR MEETING
5/12/2025
The Osmond Board of Education met at 8:02 pm, Monday, May 12, 2025, in the multi-purpose room at Osmond Community Schools, located at 202 W. Prairie St., Osmond, NE.
It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Rice, that it is hereby determined that this meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the May 7, 2025 issue of the Osmond Republican, according to policy 2008 and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. All members having voted in favor of the motion, the same was declared, passed and adopted and the following proceedings were had and done at said meeting in open session. A copy of the open meetings act was posted in the room.

Board roll call was taken, with all members being present.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Patron Input: President Moes recognized Regina Lorenz with the Osmond Republican as the news reporter in attendance.
It was moved by Rice, seconded by Gansebom, to approve the consent agenda, reviewed board policies 5016-5020 and 5022, the financial reports and May claims as presented.

Principal Polt reported on: 1) an MTSS meeting scheduled for May 13th; 2) the last day for students being May 20 with a 1:00 pm dismissal; 3) grades being due on May 20, with all report cards being sent home by the end of that week; 4) staff work days will be held on May 21 & 22; 5) district track scheduled for May 14th at Humphrey; 6) class C & D state track is scheduled for May 23 & 24 in Omaha; and 7) the Memorial Day program scheduled for May 26 at 11:00 am.
Superintendent Bremer reported on: 1) reviewed board policies; 2) potential coop partnerships with Plainview and Wausa; 3) the food services program, also noting that the price for adult lunches has been raised to $4.80 to be compliant with Federal guidelines and that there is a new online credit card payment option in place for lunch payments; 4) reviewed the ALICAP inspection and report; 5) noted the refinishing of the gym floor in June; 6) possible update to lighting and electrical for the stage area; 7) summer room remodels; and 8) a bid for new volleyball equipment standards.
Discussion Items: 1) President Moes suggested all board meeting start times be at 7:00 pm to maintain consistency for the public, asking the board for feedback. The board agreed that starting with the July meeting, the start time for meetings will be 7:00 pm year-round; 2) Updates on committee meetings with Wausa and Plainview schools and possible next steps were discussed, with each committee meeting being attended by Moes, Reikofski and Gansebom. The board discussed the tour of the Wausa school, comparing with OCS facilities. Wausa schools would like a consolidation contract signed before additional coops be put in place. The committee meeting with Plainview was a discussion about coops across the board in all sports beginning with Junior High, and the use of both school facilities in the future after seeking patron input from both communities.
Action Items: It was moved by Reikofski, seconded by Gansebom, to take all necessary action to coop all junior high sports with Plainview Public School beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, with revenue and expenses beyond coaches’ compensation to be shared equally, with a second vote to be taken at the June board meetings.

It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Rice, to approve a bid not to exceed $11,300, for new volleyball standards, nets and officials stand.

The board set a public meeting on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at 8:00 pm at OCS to discuss possible cooperatives with Plainview Public School.
The minutes of the meeting were read.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:54 pm.
