MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION #42R
REGULAR MEETING
2/9/2026
The Osmond Board of Education met at 7:00 pm, Monday, February 9, 2026, in the multi-purpose room at Osmond Community Schools, located at 202 W. Prairie St., Osmond, NE.
It was moved by Rice, seconded by Gansebom, that it is hereby determined that this meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the February 4, 2026 issue of the Osmond Republican, according to policy 2008 and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. All members having voted in favor of the motion, the same was declared, passed and adopted and the following proceedings were had and done at said meeting in open session. A copy of the open meetings act was posted in the room.

Board member roll call was taken, with member Koehler being excused, later arriving at 7:39 pm.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
It was moved by Rice, seconded by Reikofski, to approve the Agenda as presented.

Patron Input: No patrons were in attendance. President Moes recognized Regina Lorenz from the Osmond Republican as the news reporter in attendance.
It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Reikofski, to approve the consent agenda, reviewed board policies 1001, 1002 and amended policy 1003, financial reports and February claims as presented.

K-6 Principal Parsons reported on: 1) Feel the Love February staff appreciation calendar; 2) ESU 8 Winter Workshop; 3) the recent MTSS Leadership meeting; 4) student behaviors; 5) parent/teacher organization; 6) professional development and curriculum updates; 7) ELA Standards and 8) upcoming events.
7-12 Principal Polt reported on: 1) Mid-quarter cut off; 2) winter junior high MAPS testing in reading and math; 3) State girls and State boys wrestling championships hosted in Omaha; 4) National FFA Week being Feb. 23rd; 5) high school band and choir trip to Dallas, TX will depart on March 11th; 6) speech districts will be held at Wayne High School on March 16th; 7) Class D All State band and choir concert on March 21st at UNK; 8) spring break scheduled for March 6 and 13; 9) March 12th is the final day for the 3rd quarter; 10) March 2nd is the first day that the NSAA allows for spring sports practices; 11) reported on the recent 7-12 assembly on cell phone safety; and 12) gave an update on junior high co-ops and participation numbers.
Superintendent Bremer reported on: 1) reviewed and revised board polices; 2) NRCSA Spring Conference; 3) board member elections for 2026; 4) upcoming workshops; 5) updating or replacing the school lawn mower; 6) possible new building automation system; and 7) Superintendent goals.
Board Member / Committee Reports: 1) President Moes noted the recent facility and grounds committee meeting with Rice and Reikofski, stating some bids were being gathered for improvement items; 2) Reifofski noted that a roof repair was approved on the North building; 3) the board visited about upcoming building maintenance; and 4) Reikofski and Rice updated the board on the proposed Vision Statement and Core Values.
Action Items: It was moved by Krohn, seconded by Rice, to have True Ag and Turf replace the Ferris lawn mower engine at an estimated cost of $3,345.

It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Koehler, to accept the five-year agreement with Albireo Energy for the Building Automaton System with costs ranging from $3,636 to $4,419.58 annually over the five-year agreement.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:25 pm.
