POLICY HEARINGS
7/8/2024
The Osmond Board of Education met at 8:00 pm on Monday, July 8, 2024 in the school library.
It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Rice, that it is hereby determined that this meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the July 3, 2024 issue of the Osmond Republican and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. All members having voted in favor of the motion, the same was declared passed and adopted and the following proceedings were had and done at said meeting in open session. A copy of the open meetings act was posted in the building. For: 6 Against: 0
The hearing for Policy 5018 – Parent and Guardian Involvement in Education Practices was opened at 8:00 pm and adjourned at 8:00 pm.
The hearing for Policy 5045 – Student Fees was opened at 8:01 pm and adjourned at 8:01 pm.
The hearing for Policy 5057 – District Title I Parent and Family Engagement was opened at 8:02 pm and adjourned at 8:02 pm.

REGULAR MEETING
7/8/2024
The Osmond Board of Education regular meeting commenced at 8:04 pm.
The District Purpose Statement was read.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Board member roll call: All members present.
The meeting Agenda was approved as presented.
Celebration of Excellence: Mr. Bremer shared an update on the FBLA National Convention, mentioning a thank you note presented to the board by the chapter. President Moes commented that the sponsor and students represented the school and community very well.
Patron Input: President Moes recognized Rick Sirek, Lisa Schmit and Regina Lorenz as guests in attendance.
Presentation: Rick Sirek and Lisa Schmit, with Town & Country Insurance Agency, presented on current school insurance with EMC and the possible renewal for 2024/2025.
It was moved by Rice, seconded by Reikofski, to approve all required policy updates as listed by KSB Law, except optional policy 6043 (Mapping Data), and to include optional policy 6025 (Student Cell Phone or Other Electronic Devices), should it be needed.

It was moved by Reikofski, seconded by Koehler, to approve the consent agenda and financial reports as presented.

Athletic Director Guenther reported on: 1) High school girls basketball schedule for 2024/2025.
Principal Polt reported on: 1) the updated Power School messaging system; 2) teacher in-service workdays scheduled for Aug. 12, 13, 14; 3) elementary open house and Chromebook meeting and check-out, both scheduled for Aug 13th; 4) the upcoming Epic football camp and para training; and 5) the first day of school on Aug. 15th.
Superintendent Bremer reported on: 1) policy updates and revisions; 2) coop update with Wausa schools; 3) office remodel update; 4) insurance coverages and premiums; 5) hearings update; 6) FBLA Nationals; 7) NDE Accreditation received for the 24/25 school year; 8) Administrator Days in Kearney; 9) ordering a new back custodial door; 10) provided strategic plan and district goals reminders; and 11) ways to foster community involvement in the school.
Board Comments: 1) the board discussed the lighted community sign, with Gansebom noting he will follow up with the City; 2) Koehler provided an update on the new concrete work in progress; 3) the grounds committee discussed meeting before the start of the new school year; and 4) the board discussed the recent joint meeting with Wausa board of education.
Discussion Item: A potential feasibility study for Osmond and Wausa schools was explained further by Mr. Bremer, where he also noted various proposals and parameters of a future study, if approved.
The minutes of the meeting were read.
The meeting was adjourned the meeting at 10:14 pm.
Notice is hereby given that the next regular meeting of the Osmond Board of Education will be on Monday, Aug. 12, 2024 at 8:00 pm at the school. An agenda is kept continually current and is available for public inspection in the Superintendent’s office during regular office hours.
