MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION #42R
REGULAR MEETING
10/21/2024
The Osmond Board of Education met at 1:08 pm, Monday, October 21, 2024, in the multi-purpose room at Osmond Community Schools, located at 202 W. Prairie St., Osmond, NE.
It was moved by Reikofski, seconded by Krohn, that it is hereby determined that this meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the October 9, 2024 issue of the Osmond Republican, according to policy 2008 and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. All members having voted in favor of the motion, the same was declared, passed and adopted and the following proceedings were had and done at said meeting in open session. A copy of the open meetings act was posted in the room.

Board member roll call was taken, with members Rice and Koehler being excused.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
A presentation was given by JAGNE (Jobs For America’s Graduates - Nebraska) by representative Jessi Hedlund, regarding a possible curriculum to replace some of the CTE classes for next school year, with Mr. Polt also adding notes about this program possibly replacing some CTE classes at OCS.
Patron Input: President Moes recognized Regina Lorenz as a guest in attendance.
It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Krohn, to approve the consent agenda, financial reports and October claims as presented.
Yea: 3 Nay: 0; with member Reikofski abstaining
Principal Polt reported on: 1) first quarter honors breakfast scheduled for Oct. 29th; 2) cross country districts and state competitions, football play-offs and volleyball sub-districts; 3) Lewis & Clark vocal music clinic and concert Nov. 4th in Randolph, noting Erin Wagner qualified for the NMEA All State Choir; 4) reported on the JAGNE presentation; 5) ASVAB test for Juniors, 6) Northeast Nebraska Career Day at WSC; 7) fall break on Oct. 25th; 8) upcoming National FFA Convention; 9) staff in service on Nov. 13th with state mandated training; and 10) Dew It For Your School program monies received.
Superintendent Bremer reported on: 1) the successful season for the OCS marching band; 2) coop update and feasibility study with Wausa school; 3) office remodel update; 4) proposed service agreement with Trane for HVAC services; 5) NASB state education conference; 6) Rule 10 safety visit; 7) Rule 10 compliance visit; 8) annual school audit; 9) data updates on PowerSchool; 10) proposed a November board retreat; and 11) provided strategic plan and district goals updates.
Board Comments / Committee Reports: 1) Member Gansebom provided an update and answered questions regarding the electronic sign with the City.
Action Items: It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Krohn, to approve the service agreement with Trane for HVAC service for a three-year contract.
