MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION #42R
REGULAR MEETING
10/13/2025
The Osmond Board of Education met at 7:03 pm, Monday, October 13, 2025, in the multi-purpose room at Osmond Community Schools, located at 202 W. Prairie St., Osmond, NE.
It was moved by Rice, seconded by Koehler, that it is hereby determined that this meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the October 8, 2025 issue of the Osmond Republican, according to policy 2008 and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. All members having voted in favor of the motion, the same was declared, passed and adopted and the following proceedings were had and done at said meeting in open session. A copy of the open meetings act was posted in the room.

Board roll call was taken, with all members being present.
A motion was made by Rice, seconded by Reikofski, to approve the Agenda as presented.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Celebration of Excellence: Mr. Bremer noted the overall MTSS first quarter results, along with counselor and title support available to students.
Patron Input: No patrons were in attendance. President Moes recognized Regina Lorenz from the Osmond Republican as the news reporter in attendance.
It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Rice, to approve the consent agenda, reviewed and/or revised board policies 5045, 5067, and 6001 through 6011, the financial reports and October claims as presented.

Athletic Director Guenther reported on: NSAA high school girls wrestling and high school bowling for this school year.
K-6 Principal Parsons reported on: 1) K-6 Professional Development Day; 2) PBIS first quarter celebration; 3) refining MTSS-SEL process; 4) See-Saw program; 5) SPED parent survey; 6) Homecoming; 7) K-2 public library visits; 8) 4th grade field trip to Ashfall Fossil Beds; and 9) upcoming events.
7-12 Principal Polt reported on: 1) End of the first quarter and report cards; 2) parent-teacher conferences; 3) fall MAPS testing; 4) sophomore career fair; 5) fall break, scheduled for Oct. 24th; 6) national FFA convention in Indianapolis beginning Oct 29th; 7) first quarter honor roll breakfast scheduled for Oct. 28th at 7:30 am; 8) 26/27 school calendar; 9) junior high basketball coaches will be Kennedy Moes for girls and Mr. Guenther for boys; 10) Mr. Krause will be the high school bowling coach; 11) noted student numbers for fall / winter activities; 11) acknowledged a thank-you note from the Osmond tree board; and 12) congratulated the OHS Tiger marching band on a very successful season.
Superintendent Bremer reported on: 1) Board policies; 2) 25/26 finalized tax information; 3) Plainview-Osmond cooperatives; 4) the annual superintendent evaluation; 5) superintendent contract; 6) teacher negotiations for 26/27 and 27/28 school years; 7) School Information Systems (SIS); 8) new transit vans with AWD; 9) new para hires; 10) NASB State Education Conference in Omaha, Nov. 19-21; 11) Rule 10 Safety visit; 12) unified bowling beginning this month; 13) holiday staff appreciation gifts; 14) board goals and 15) superintendent goals.
Board Member / Committee Reports: 1) Koehler updated the board on the FFA plot and new sign placement; 2) President Moes reminded the board about the upcoming Superintendent evaluation.
Action Items: It was moved by Reikofski, seconded by Rice, to take all necessary action to approve a cooperative agreement with Plainview Public Schools for HS Football and HS Boy's and Girl’s Basketball beginning with the 2026-2027 school year with expenses and revenues to be shared as equally as possible.

It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Koehler, to take all necessary action on the follow up from the July 14, 2025 approval to purchase two transit vans, to now include the added cost to make both vans all-wheel drive (AWD).

It was moved by Krohn, seconded by Gansebom, to accept the resignation of Brad Thoendel.

The minutes of the meeting were read.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 pm.
Notice is hereby given that the next regular meeting of the Osmond Board of Education will be on Monday, November 10, 2025 at 7:00 pm at the school. An agenda is kept continually current and is available for public inspection in the Superintendent’s office during regular office hours.
