MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION #42R
REGULAR MEETING
12/9/2024
The Osmond Board of Education met at 7:01 pm, Monday, December 9, 2024, in the multi-purpose room at Osmond Community Schools, located at 202 W. Prairie St., Osmond, NE.
It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Rice, that it is hereby determined that this meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the December 4, 2024 issue of the Osmond Republican, according to policy 2008 and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. All members having voted in favor of the motion, the same was declared, passed and adopted and the following proceedings were had and done at said meeting in open session. A copy of the open meetings act was posted in the room.

Board member roll call was taken, with all members being present.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Patron Input: President Moes recognized Regina Lorenz from the Osmond Republican and Jessica Evans, OCS FFA Sponsor, as a guests in attendance.
Celebration of Excellence: Mrs. Evans gave an overview to the board on the school’s FFA program.
It was moved by Reikofski, seconded by Koehler, to approve the consent agenda, reviewed board policies 4022, 4023, 4025, 4027-4032 and amended policies 2008, 3004.1, 3060, financial reports and December claims as presented.

Principal Polt reported on: 1) the last day of the first semester and report cards; 2) Christmas break, starting on Dec. 21st, with students returning on Jan. 7th; 3) the NSAA moratorium from Dec. 22 through 26; 4) Christmas concerts on Dec. 17th, with K-6 at 6:00 pm and 7-12 at 7:30 pm; and 5) noted that a donation from Michaels Foods in the amount of $1,500 had been received, with funds to be used for the school library; 6) provided the first draft of the 25/26 school calendar; 7) noted district FFA on Nov. 19, 2025 will be held at OCS; and 8) several para and elementary principal applications had been received for consideration.
Superintendent Bremer reported on: 1) reviewed board policies; 2) coop and feasibility study updates; 3) building and office updates; 4) the hiring of a K-6 principal; 5) early childhood education; 6) unified bowling, with OCS finishing 2nd in B4 district competition; 7) Rule 10 compliance visit; 8) 2025 NRCSA spring conference; and 9) strategic plan and district goals reminders.
Board Comments / Committee Reports: 1) President Moes thanked Michaels Foods for the donation to the school library; 2) commented on the football and wrestling coops, noting further efforts be made to recognize all of the student athletes; 3) Rice commented on elementary athletics sponsored by parents; and 4) Krohn mentioned and the board discussed some of the city sidewalks near school that are in need of attention.
Action Items: It was moved by Rice, seconded by Koehler, to accept the bid from Court Floors to refinish the gym floor, with the grounds committee to decide upon placements for logos and lettering.

Discussion Item: The board discussed their annual Superintendent’s evaluation with Superintendent Bremer.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:43 pm.
Notice is hereby given that the next regular meeting of the Osmond Board of Education will be on Monday, January 13th, 2024 at 7:00 pm at the school. An agenda is kept continually current and is available for public inspection in the Superintendent’s office during regular office hours.
