AMERICANISM MEETING – COMMITTEE ON AMERICAN CIVICS
3/9/2026
The Osmond Board of Education met at 7:01 pm, Monday, March 9, 2026, in the multi-purpose room at Osmond Community Schools, located at 202 W. Prairie St., Osmond, NE.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
American Civics and Curriculum updates were given to the board by Mr. Dale Krause, head of the Committee on American Civics.
Patron Input: None.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:06 pm.

REGULAR MEETING
3/9/2026
The Osmond Board of Education Regular Meeting begin at 7:07 pm, Monday, March 9, 2026, in the multi-purpose room at Osmond Community Schools, located at 202 W. Prairie St., Osmond, NE.
It was moved by Rice, seconded by Koehler, that it is hereby determined that this meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the March 4, 2026 issue of the Osmond Republican, according to policy 2008 and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. All members having voted in favor of the motion, the same was declared, passed and adopted and the following proceedings were had and done at said meeting in open session. A copy of the open meetings act was posted in the room.

Board member roll call was taken, with member Reikofski being excused.
It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Rice, to approve the Agenda as presented.

Patron Input: President Moes recognized Matt Johnson from Johnson Plumbing & Heating out of Norfolk and Dwight Kahny, OCS Maintenance Director as guests in attendance. President Moes also recognized Regina Lorenz from the Osmond Republican as the news reporter in attendance. Mr. Johnson and Mr. Kahny presented to the board on possibly adding air conditioning in parts of the school building where there is none, or areas that are only serviced by window AC units.
It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Koehler, to approve the consent agenda, reviewed board policies 2001 through 2004, 2007 through 2011, financial reports and March claims as presented.

K-6 Principal Parsons reported on: 1) 5th and 6th grade honor choir; 2) the first PTO planning meeting held on Feb. 12th; 3) welcomed back Mrs. Anderson from maternity leave; 4) reported on the Ag Olympics; 5) an MTSS Leadership Team meeting; 6) provided curriculum and training updates and 7) noted upcoming events.
7-12 Principal Polt reported on: 1) conference speech results; 2) the end of the 3rd quarter, with report cards being sent home March 20; 3) Easter Break will begin with a 2:06 dismissal on April 2, with school resuming on April 7; 4) graduation supplies and signing of diplomas; 5) ACT test date for juniors is March 25th; 6) Pre ACT test date for sophomores will be April 15th; 7) NSCAS testing window begins March 23; 8) Class D All State Band will be held at UNK on March 21, with Osmond being represented by 11 students; 9) State Speech will be held at Kearney High School on March 28; 10) State FFA Convention will be held in Lincoln on March 25-27, with 21 FFA members qualifying; 11) OHS had individuals from the junior class sign up for Cornhusker Girls & Boys State in Lincoln, with sponsorship provided by the American Legion; 12) 3rd quarter Honor Breakfast scheduled for April 15; 13) updates to the 26/27 school calendar; 14) Homecoming 2026 scheduled for the week of Sept. 14 through the 19, with Coronation taking place on that Friday and the dance on Saturday; 15) the continuation of the O’Club JH girls and boys basketball tournament as a “B” team tournament; 16) March 17 being the date for the Lewis & Clark All Conference Basketball selections; 17) organizing the class offerings for the 2026-27 school, with registration to follow in April; 18) the 8th grade career day field trip to NECC on April 8; 19) noted multiple concerts and art shows coming up on the calendar.
Superintendent Bremer reported on: 1) the Tiger Branch of Security Bank; 2) listening sessions with patrons; 3) reviewed and/or revised board polices; 4) Plainview-Osmond cooperatives; 5) provided Ad Hoc Committee updates; 6) facility updates; 7) discussed 26/27 budget prep; 8) the annual ALICAP inspection; 9) replacement of four exterior double doors; 10) upcoming workshops; and 10) Superintendent goals.
Board Member / Committee Reports: 1) President Moes inquired with the board about scheduling the annual board retreat, with a probable meeting date to be set in April.
Discussion Items: The board and administration discussed 1) Possible HVAC ideas for the south part of the main school building; and 2) the status of the Plainview-Osmond cooperatives.
Action Items: It was moved by Rice, seconded by Koehler, to take all necessary action on the replacement of four outside double doors, to be replaced by The Glass Edge at a cost of $72,812.
