Regular Meeting
02/12/2024
The Osmond Board of Education met at 1:00 pm, on Monday, February 12, 2024 in the multi-purpose room at Osmond Community Schools, located at 202 W. Prairie St., Osmond, NE.
It was moved by Reikofski, seconded by Koehler, that it is hereby determined that this meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the February 7, 2024 issue of the Osmond Republican and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. All members present having voted in favor of the motion, the same was declared, passed and adopted and the following proceedings were had and done at said meeting in open session. A current copy of the open meetings act was posted in the room. For: 5 Against: 0
The District purpose statement was read.
Board member roll call was taken with member Rice being excused.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Celebration of Excellence: The school purpose statement was reviewed, and it was reiterated how it drives the district.
Patron Input: 1) President Moes recognized Regina Lorenz as a guest in attendance.
It was moved by Reikofski, seconded by Gansebom, to approve the consent agenda and financial reports as presented; along with the review of board policies 3012, 3022, 3023, 3024, 3026, 3027, 3028 and 4051; with one change being made to policy 3012. For: 5 Against: 0
Athletic Director Guenther submitted a written report on: 1) the conference girls and boys basketball tournaments; 2) the 24/25 football schedule, with Homecoming scheduled for Friday, Oct. 4th; and 3) new shot clocks and lighting for basketball backboards.
Principal Polt reported on: 1) 3rd quarter progress reports; 2) the 24/25 school calendar; 3) shot clock and backboard lighting quotes; 4) class offerings and class registration for next school year; 5) senior and junior high quiz bowls; 6) district & state speech; 7) Class D All State Band Concert; 8) spring break; 9) final day of the 3rd quarter; 10) Conference speech meet; 11) the beginning of spring sports practices; and 11) expanded on the Osmond-Wausa co-op offerings.
Superintendent Bremer reported on: 1) board policies information and updates; 2) early childhood education and grants; 3) Wausa co-op update and joint board and committee meetings; 4) Superintendent evaluation response; 5) bank rates on money markets and CDs; 6) the new energy loan; 7) potential school office remodel; 8) recent Americanism meeting; 9) Security Bank Financial Literacy program for grades K-6.
Board Member / Committee Reports: 1) Members discussed the recent Americanism committee meeting; and 2) President Moes thanked Superintendent Bremer for his evaluation responses and for his work completed thus far for the district.
Action Items:
1) It was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Koehler, to authorize Superintendent Bremer to negotiate updated money market and CD rates with Security Bank. For: 5 Against: 0
2) It was moved by Krohn, seconded by Koehler, to authorize Superintendent Bremer to work with Security Bank on the OCS Branch of Security Bank program for grades K-6 for the 24/25 school year. For: 5 Against: 0
Closed Session: At 2:54 pm, it was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Reikofski, to go into closed session to review the OEA suggestions for the new contract for 2024-2025. For: 5 Against: 0
At 3:23 pm, it was moved by Gansebom, seconded by Koehler, to come out of closed session.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:25 pm.
