Friday October 5th was the 43rd running of the Bloomfield Invitational cross country meet and 6th running of the Lewis & Clark conference meet. The Osmond boy’s took runner-up honors in both.
Jared Bessmer and Johnson Chishiba got out well and were in the lead group for the first loop of the course with other Tigers back needing to close it up a bit. Second time around Jared had moved into first and Johnson second with Graysen really moving up into fifth spot. Ryan Schmit and Aaron Chishiba were 16 to 19 positions with the rest of the team working hard.
On the last strait to the line Kathol and Joachimsen of Hartington passed Jared and Johnson and the sprint was on. The two Wildcats went one and two, Johnson was 3rd (18:13), Jared was 4th (18:14), and Graysen was 5th (18:48). Ryan had passed two Hartington Cats for 12th place (19:22) and Aaron was 17th (19:49), Kaden Polt was 25st (20:26), Alexander Heiman 39th (22:47), and Connor vonRentzell held off Becker of Hartington for 48th (24:46). These were their positions in the Conference meet.
“I would like to congratulate our team for earning the Conference runner-up plaque. Our team really ran tough but Hartington made the last move and held on. Each runner did their best to move up on the final stretch” complimented Coach Ortmeier. “It was really fun having the football team and volleyball team there cheering our teams on!”
The Bloomfield meet is run in conjunction with the Lewis & Clark Conference meet, so the scoring for one will be different than the other.
