On Thursday August 31st the Osmond Cross Country teams traveled to Niobrara for the Niobrara-Verdigre Invitational held at the State Park. At the end of the race the Tigers had earned the second place plaque just 3 points from first. Neligh-Oakdale score was 26 and the Osmond 29 with Stanton third at 36 points.
Jared Bessmer was the top Osmond finisher in his best time on this course of 18:21. Johnson Chishiba was seventh at 19:29, Aaron Chishiba was eleventh in his best time on this course of 20:15, and Ethan Pfanstiel came in seventeenth also in his best time on this course of 21:16. Alexander Heiman was twenty-second in a time of 21:50 and Keaton Timmerman was twenty-third in a close 21:56. Alex Kumm finished in thirty-first position at 23:39 and again faster than last year and Connor vonRentzell was thirty-seventh in 25:46.
In the girls division Jozie Kumm finished the race in twenty-third place in a time of 29:29, just missing out on a medal. In the jr. high boys division eighth grader Kaden Polt finished seventh in the 24 man field in a time of 5:52 for 1600 meters.
“I was very pleased with the races today and the way all the runners prepared” praised Coach Joe Ortmeier. “This is the second time we have earned a plaque at an invitational, last time was at Neligh in 2013”
Osmond will run at Hartington next Thursday starting at 4:30.
