Thursday September 7th the Osmond cross country teams traveled to the Hartington golf course for their Invitational. It was a beautiful day for racing as 72 boy’s 37 girls and 53 junior high runners took to the course.
The Tiger boy’s got off to a quick start and ran strong over the 5K distance. At the finish gate Jared Bessmer was passed by Winnebago’s D’Von LaPointe . Brian Santiago of Hartington won the race in 16:53,and his teammate Seth Wiebelhaus was second, LaPointe third and Jared fourth with a time of 18:21.
Johnson Chishiba was 9th in a solid time of 18:55, his brother Aaron came in 15th in 19:30, also a good time. Ethan Pfanstiel finished in 28th place in 21:06 and Keaton Timmerman 33rd in 21:29. Alexander Heiman placed 44th in 22:36 and Alex Kumm was 54th in 23:57. Connor vonRentzell was 58th in the 72 runner field in a time of 24:32.
As a team the boy’s finished in fourth place. Hartington was 1st (26), Winside 2nd (34), Winnebago 3rd (43), Osmond 4th (48), Laurel Concord Coleridge 5th (92), Battle Creek 6th (110), Ponca 7th (146), Hartington JV 8th (162), Randolph 9th (170), and Pender 10th (179).
In the girl’s race Hayle Krienert finished the race in 21st place in 26:03, Lexi Beacom was 28th in 29:14, and Jozie Kumm 30th in 29:34. All the girls had strong finishes.
In the junior high division Robert Aschoff finished in 21st place in a time of 7:24 and Kaden Polt was 27th in a time of 8:01.
“Everyone ran well today” noted Coach Joe Ortmeier, “this is one of the toughest meets we will run in all season.”
