Thursday September 28th Osmond Cross Country teams took part in the Battle Creek Invitational. The meet was held on the Evergreen Hills Golf course. Seven teams competed for the title.
The Osmond boy’s got out to a good start, all running in the lead pack early. Jared Bessmer and Johnson and Aaron Chishiba remained near the front as the pack thinned out. At the finish gate Jarred came in second behind Winside’s Dylan Brogren. Jared’s time was 19:21. Johnson was a close 4th in a time of 19:39. Aaron, also in the top 10 was 9th in a time of 20:35. Ethan Pfanstiel was 16th in 21:43, Keaton Timmerman 20th in 22:23, Alexander Heiman 25th in 24:10, Alex Kumm 26th in 24:50 and Connor vonRentzell 31st in a time of 26:54.
The team scores: 25 – Winside; 29 – Osmond; 46 – Humphrey St Francis; 49 – Fullerton; 89 – Battle Creek.
In the girl’s division Lexi Beacom finished in 8th place in 26:57. Hayle Krienert was 12th in 28:56 and Jozie Kumm 14th in 32:21.
The Tigers jr. high runners ran well as Robert Aschoff placed 9th in 13:04 and Kaden Polt right behind in 10th place in 13:05.
“We had a good meet at a new course with some teams we had never raced before” commented Coach Ortmeier. “Winside has a good group of runners and we really battle them every time we see them.”
Osmond will compete in the Lewis & Clark Conference meet/Bloomfield Invitational meet at Rolling Hills Golf course on Friday October 6th starting with the girls at 4:00.
