           Osmond Track & Field traveled to Wayne for the Wayne State College “Indoor” meet Saturday March 19^th.  The weather allowed the meet to be outdoor’s on the LeRoy Simpson track.  The Tigers were a little short handed due to Class-D All-State band.

          In the field events Grace Gansebom took second place in the long jump with a jump of 14-8.  Sophie Gansebom collected a third place medal in the high jump.  Sophie’s mark was 4-6. Kiera Moes placed fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 29-5. 

          On the track the 3200-relay team second behind Wayne.  Cali Gutz got the team out well.  Grace Gansebom was second runner followed by Caydence Krienert and anchored by Keli Aschoff. Their time was 11:23.5.  The 1600-relay team of Grace and Sophie Gansebom, Erica Heiman and Cali Gutz finished fourth though they were closing on Tekamah-Herman.  Their time was 4:45.8. The 400-relay team placed 5^th in a time of 59.0.  Team members were Kiera Moes, Erica Heiman, Sophie Gansebom, and Keli Aschoff.   Erica Heiman placed 6^th in the 300 hurdles in a time of 57.7.

          The boy’s were also tough on the track.  One of the best races on the track was the last one, the 1600-relay.  Bodie True led off with a blazing first lap opening up a wide lead over the field.  Ryan Schmit and Gavin Geneski held on as Wayne and Boon Central were closing in.  Alex Vinson fought off the Boone Central anchor all the way to the finish line and was just out leaned.  The Tigers second place time was 3:42.6.

          The 3200-relay was also a nice race for Osmond as Gavin Geneski also led off with a strong lead leg giving the Tigers a nice lead.  Dominic True, Karter Johnson, and Ryan Schmit all ran well with Schmit sprinting to the line closing on the Wayne runner.  Osmond’s second place time was 9:22.2.  The 400-relay team placed 5^th in a time of 48.5.  Team members were Bodie True, Alex Vinson, James Doyle, and Hunter Buchanan. 

          Caleb Miller and James Doyle each earned a fourth place medal:  Caleb in the 3200 meters with a time of 12:13.7 and James in the 400 meters in 57.4.  Hudson Schultze and Dominic True both collected fifth place medals: Hudson in the 800 meters in 2:23.7 and Dominic in the 1600 meters in a time of 5:39.2.

          “We really had a good day, good weather, good track, and good competition” Coach Joe Ortmeier noted.  “I thought we competed well and in every race we pushed hard to the line. We also had people that did a good job but just missed out on placing.”
