Tuesday April 27th Osmond competed in the Creighton Invite and both teams did a great job of running, jumping and throwing.  The boys were 1 point behind Laurel Concord Coleridge and the girls were 7 points behind runner-up Bon Homme SD.

The girl’s scored well in nearly all events.  Grace Gansebom finished a close second place in the 100 meters at 13.5, then later third in the 200 meters in 28.2, both races super close finishes. Earlier she took second place in the long jump with a mark of 15-5.75.

Erica Heiman was second in the 300 hurdles in her fastest time of the season 55.1, earlier in the 100 hurdles she placed third in 18.4.  Kiera Moes finished fourth in the 100 hurdles in 19.0 and earlier took third in the triple jump with a nice leap of 30-10.

Cali Gutz finished her 1600 meters in second place in a time of 6:15.0.  Lexi Beacom was runner-up in the 3200 meters in a time of 15:26.8 which is 15 seconds faster than her previous best.  Elisa Herrera finished third in the 800 meters out kicking a Laurel runner.  Her time was 2:58.0.  Juliana Kumm tied for fifth place in the high jump with a jump 4-0.

The relays also did a fine job as both the 3200-realy and the 1600-relay finished in second place.  The 3200-relay team of Cali Gutz, Riley Wagner, Elisa Herrera, and Lexi Beacom ran a time of 11:54.1 for their silver medals.  The 1600-team of Riley Wagner, Erica Heiman, Grace Gansebom, and Cali Gutz finished the race in 4:46.1.

“The girls really had a good day, competed hard and scored well” Praised Coach Joe Ortmeier.

The boys won four events and had multiple scorers in nine events.  Starting in the field senior Zach Huwaldt won the shot put with a toss of 41-9 nearly 3 feet farther than second place.  Kaysen Maertins was sixth at 34-3.  Kaysen earlier took fourth place in the discus with a mark of 104-3 which is his seasons best.  Patrick Vinson added 10 feet to his previous best mark to place fifth at 100-2.

Spencer Hille had a personal best mark in the high jump with a 5-10 leap good for second place.  He had a good attempt at 6 feet, but missed.  Owen Seversen tied for fifth place with a jump of 5-2.  Spencer also recorded his best mark in the long jump of 19-3.75 which placed him third.  In the triple jump Graysen Schultze placed third at 37-7.25 and Bradee Gubbels was fourth at 37-3.5.

On the track the 800 meters was a big scoring event.  Johnson Chishiba finished first with a time of 2:16.9, Ryan Schmit was second at 2:19.2, and Hudson Schultze held on to fourth place out kicking Anderson from Pope John.

The 1600 meters also saw three Tigers score as Johnson Chishiba outleaned Graysen Schultze at the line for second and third place.  Their times were 4:56.3 and 4:56.5.  Karter Johnson finished in fifth place at 5:18.8.  In the 400 meters Bodie True ran his best 400 meters ever to place second.  His time was 55.2.  Bodie was also sixth in the 200 meters in a time of 24.6. Connor Guts finished in sixth place at 56.2. Connor was also third in the 100 meters in a nice time of 11.6.

The 300 hurdles also saw a pair of Tigers placing.  Kaden Polt took third place in 45.1, his fastest time and Spencer Hille was fifth in 45.8. Kaden also placed sixth in the 110 high hurdles in a time of 18.7.  Osmond also scored two runners in the 3200 meters with Hunter Beacom finishing in fifth place in a time of 12:23.2 which is 11 seconds better than his best. Caleb Miller was right behind Hunter in sixth place in a time of 12:33.7.

Two Relays finished with gold medals, but the 400-relay had a bad exchange but picked up the baton and still finished the race.  The 3200-relay team of Johnson Chishiba, Ryan Schmit, Karter Johnson and Graysen Schultze easily won the event in 9:31.1.  The 1600-relay team was pushed hard to the finish by Laurel Concord Coleridge but anchorman Connor Gutz held them off for the win.  Their time was 3:47.9 and team members were Johnson Chishiba, Bryan Solorzano, Graysen Schultze, and Gutz.

“The boy’s had a super day in the field and on the track, scoring better in a lot of events “noted Coach Ortmeier. “We were a little disappointed   to be outscored by one point by the end of the day, but that happens sometimes. Congratulations to LCC on a great effort.”
