Celebrating Thank a Mentor Day and National Mentoring Month
Launch the media gallery 1 player“Thank a Mentor” day was celebrated on Thursday, January 19th all across the country; with the local TeamMates chapter celebrating also. Mentees wrote handwritten thank-you’s to their mentors and a batch of cookies was donated by Board Member, Todd Schulze and the boys basketball team for the mentors to enjoy.
On Thursday, January 26th the Osmond TeamMates chapter held a recognition night between the girls and boys varsity high school basketball games. Mentors and mentees were encouraged to attend and sit together to cheer on the Osmond Tigers. Each TeamMates match was announced and recognized between games. Afterwards, a group photo was taken. A thank you note for the mentors was given as a token of appreciation from the Board of Directors and Coordinator for their commitment to the youth and the local program.
The TeamMates program also held a raffle for a Tom Osborne autographed Husker football and display case. All proceeds from the raffle benefit the mentees in the program through various activities each year. The winner of the raffle was Shailey Orr. When we asked her father (who is an Iowa Hawkeyes fan) about the prize, he responded with: “I demand a re-draw. I can’t be outnumbered by Husker fans in my house already!’’
Osmond TeamMates once again would like to thank the mentors for volunteering their time each week to impact the life of a youth in our community.
