Osmond TeamMates Attend Husker Red/White Game
TeamMates, Husker, Football
On Saturday, April 16th , the Osmond TeamMates chapter made their way south to Lincoln to watch the Nebraska Cornhuskers annual Red/White football game.
Each year the TeamMates program kicks off the day with a lunch sponsored by Runza at the baseball stadium. This provides an opportunity for all of the TeamMates chapters across the state to get together and celebrate a successful year with their mentors and mentees. The program concludes at the baseball stadium with a special tribute to the graduating seniors. Each senior walks the bases with their mentor as a celebration for their commitment to the program and their accomplishment of their upcoming high school graduation. It’s a great honor for the seniors and is super cool for the younger TeamMates participants to see.
The main event was the Red/White football game, where over 70,000 people were in attendance. At halftime, the TeamMates mentees stood up within the stadium to take a drug free pledge. It’s such a neat tradition to see these mentees taking the drug free pledge as a group, noted many of the mentors.
It was a great day for everyone who attended as the weather cooperated. We thank all of our mentors who were able to make the event another memorable one for our local mentees!
One mentor and mentee match even made a sign earlier in the week to take with them to the game!
