Bolz and Doyle Compete in FFA Tractor Driving Contest
Bolz and Doyle Participate in FFA District Tractor Driving Contest
On Saturday, September 16th the Pierce FFA Alumni hosted the District 4 FFA Tractor Driving Contest at the Pierce County Fairgrounds. This event is held annually in conjunction with the Pierce Old Time Threshing Bee. This year students from Pierce, Plainview, Randolph, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, Hartington-Newcastle, Allen, Lutheran High Northeast, and Osmond gathered for the event.
This contest includes several different events. Starting off, each participant must maneuver a tractor with a two-wheel wagon through cones. Then, they must successfully pull a tractor and four-wheel wagon “out of the shed”, turn it around, and back it back into a “shed”. Other stations include parts identification, an owner's manual test, a safety inspection, and a general knowledge test about tractors.
Carson Bolz and James Doyle of the Osmond FFA placed 15th and 16th respectively, both earning red ribbons. This was the first year for both participants. Justin Backer, a junior from Randolph, won the event with Carter Korth from LCC taking runner-up.
