The Osmond wrestlers competed at the Plainview Invite on Saturday, Jan. 26. The Tigers scored 43 points and finished in 12th place out of the 16 teams competing. Plainview was the team champion followed by Creighton and Wayne. Osmond was led by Hunter Beacom and Alexis Solorzano who both finished 3rd in the weight brackets.
This week I thought that Hunter Beacom really wrestled well. He won three matches all by pin and finished in 3rd place in the 106 lb bracket. Hunter really came out and wrestled aggressive and had his best tournament of the year. Alexis Solorzano also won three matches all by pin to finish in 3rd place in the 170 lb bracket. This week Alexis dropped down to the 170 lb bracket for the first time and was able to be more physical with some of his opponents. Also medaling for Osmond was Bodie True who finished in 6th place in the 138 lb bracket. Bodie had a nice win by pin to get into the medal round and earn extra points for the team. Also wrestling but not placing was Mason Bykerk at 126 lbs. Mason lost a close overtime match to just miss out on earning a medal.
