Wrestlers battle at Creighton

Wrestlers Compete at Creighton Invite

 

     The Osmond Wrestlers competed at the Creighton Invite on Tuesday, December 18.  The Tigers scored 47 points and finished in 10^th place out of the 15 teams competing.  Grand Island Northwest was the team champion followed by Battle Creek and Neligh-Oakdale.

    Overall I thought that we had a pretty good meet with four out of the seven wrestlers earning medals.  Just like every meet we lost a couple of matches that I thought that we could win, but again the overall effort was good.  Mason Bykerk really wrestled well this week, winning three matches to finish in 3^rd place at 126 lbs.  This included an 11-3 decision over a wrestler he had lost to the week before.  Patrick Vinson also had a good tournament, winning 3 matches to finish 5^th at 145 lbs.  I thought that Patrick’s last match of the day was one of his best matches of the year.  Alexis Solorzano won two matches in a very tough 182 lb bracket to finish in 6^th place and Hunter Beacom placed 5^th at 113 lbs.  First year wrestler Nick Timmerman continuous to improve and picked up his first win of the year with a first period pin in the consolation round.   Bodie True finished 0-2 wrestling in the 152 lb bracket.  Bodie is good wrestler and I look for him to do much better the second half of the season when he drops down a couple of weight classes.  Also wrestling for Osmond was Troy Donner who finished 0-2 in the 145 lb bracket.
