On Friday, September 15th, the 5th graders took a thrilling field trip to Ponca State Park accompanied by their enthusiastic teacher, Mr. Guenther. There were various activities for kids at Ponca State Park, but the Osmond 5th grade class embarked on only four: A Bug’s Life, Archery, Mystery of the Monarch, and Binoculars.
When asked what their favorite part of the outdoor adventure was, Amberlin Marks stated, “My favorite part of the trip was the butterflies.” The butterflies portion of their trip was called the Mystery of the Monarch. In this activity, the kids got to take a monarch and let it go. One time, one of the monarchs ended up in Mexico! Cooper Kumm said, “My favorite part was the bugs, just because I like bugs.” During the Bug’s Life activity, they learned all about bugs and insects. Science teacher Mr. Guenther said, “I like getting the kids outdoors to do the different activities there is more to school than just the classroom. It’s a fun science day to learn about the outdoors. It was a good experience for them.” When asked if they could go again, what is one thing that they would want to do? Rylan Gansebom said, “I would like to go Kayaking and ax throwing.”
The class trip to Ponca State Park was an unforgettable experience that allowed students to immerse themselves in the beauty of the outdoors. The field trip not only provided them with an enjoyable day out of the classroom but also deepened their understanding of nature's wonders.
