Local Students Express Themselves in Conference Art Exhibit
The Lewis & Clark Conference Art Exhibit was held at Wayne State College February 25th
through March 2nd, 2021. Faced with limitations on holding public gatherings to view the
traditional exhibition, instructors and small groups of students from member schools hung the
artwork in the Kanter Student Center on Wayne State College’s campus by assigned time slots
on February 25th; and the artwork remained available for public viewing until Tuesday morning
March 2nd. The artwork was taken down and packaged for member schools to pick up by the
art instructors from Wakefield, Homer, and Randolph. The exhibition featured over 200 pieces of
art from K-12 students across the Conference.
Students from Osmond exhibiting artwork included Anna Kahny, Erica Heiman, Owen Severson,
Sarah Kelly, Jozie Kumm, Bailey Schmit, Johnson Chishiba, Hayle Krienert, Xander Brown, Cali
Gutz, Keely Gubbels, Erin Wagner, Megan Kelly, Noah Geneski, Isaac Harder, Brianna Kumm,
Andrew Buckleu, and Kelly Aschoff.
8th grader, Erin Wagner, was awarded Best of Show in the Junior High Division with her
Self-Portrait that she painted in Tempera Paint. Meanwhile, Freshmen, Anna Kahny, earned
Honorable Mention Best of Category - Ink with her drawing entitled “The Rose”.
Students earning first place ribbons included Erica Heiman, Anna Kahny, Kelly Aschoff, and
Keely Gubbels. Those awarded second place were Anna Kahny (x3), Bailey Schmit, Johnson

Kahny, who earned several awards at the art show, said, “My favorite part about art is getting to
choose the projects and mediums that we want. My favorite medium to use is ink. I like how it
allows you to be really messy, but still looks good in the end.”
Kahny, among others from the Osmond Art Education program, will be exhibiting art at the
Wakefield Art Show on Wednesday, March 24th, 2021.
