By Tessa Gardner, Mass Media Writer
In a great display of talent and determination, the Osmond JV football team had an exceptional season, ending with an impressive record of 4-1. The eight-member team consisting of senior Tessa Gardner; juniors Carson Bolz, Cody Gansebom, Noah Geneski, and Jaxon Vinson; sophomore Nicolas Velasco-Morlans and freshmen Kaleb Gardner and Caleb Vinson, along with coach Wyatt Schuettler, Bradley Wright, and Rod Brummels showed exceptional skill and teamwork in every match. Coach Wright said, “The team came together this year and bonded really well. Each player grew individually and gained a lot of knowledge about the game of football this year, preparing them for seasons to come in the future.”
In the team’s first away game of the season, September 18, the Tigers faced off the Bloomfield Bees and emerged with a triumphant victory of 11-0. This initial win set the tone for the next three matches. Building on their success, the team beat the Wausa Vikings in Wausa with a score of 19-8. The players dominated Randolph in an impressive Homecoming victory of 20-0. The Tigers went on to win yet another home victory on October 2 with a win over Winside with a score of 20-6.
However, the JV team's journey was not without challenges. In their sole defeat of the season, the team was left to play with only seven players due to injuries in the game. Despite an intense battle, the Tigers narrowly missed victory, falling short to Summerland with a 33-27 score. With an outstanding 4-1 record and teamwork, the JV football team cemented their place as a force to be reckoned with. Senior Tessa Gardner said, “I do not regret going out for football for my last year of high school. Getting to know all my teammates and coaches a little better and playing has been a blast! I am grateful that I got the opportunity to be able to show that football is not only a sport for boys.” The team’s outstanding achievements have inspired many and left an incredible mark on the history of Osmond football.
